Frequently asked questions.

  • Counselling is for anyone looking for support, clarity, or growth. Whether you’re facing specific challenges or simply want to better understand yourself, it’s a safe space to work through whatever is on your mind.

  • I use a variety of evidence-based approaches tailored to your unique needs, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Inner Child Therapy. Together, we’ll decide which methods work best for you and your goals.

  • The length of counselling varies depending on your goals and needs. Some people find a few sessions helpful, while others prefer ongoing support for deeper, long-term growth. I offer 50-minute sessions to start with.

  • It’s normal to feel nervous! The first session is designed to help you feel comfortable. We’ll go at your pace, and you’re always in control of what you choose to share.

  • Yes, counselling is confidential. The only exceptions involve safety concerns, such as harm to yourself or others, which I’ll explain in more detail during our first session

  • No preparation is needed! Just come as you are. If there’s anything specific you want to discuss, you’re welcome to share it, but it’s not required.

  • Many extended health insurance plans offer coverage for counselling services. It’s best to check with your provider to confirm your benefits, including whether they cover sessions with a registered counsellor. If needed, I can provide receipts for reimbursement via email.

  • While counselling provides support for ongoing challenges, it’s not designed for immediate crisis intervention. If you’re in crisis, please contact 911, a crisis hotline (988), or go to your nearest hospital for immediate support.
